When students reach middle school they are expected to be competent readers; discreet reading instruction is no longer a priority. But where does that leave the 67% of students reading below proficiency levels? They cannot decode grade-level text, and the text they can decode fails to contain interesting or age-appropriate content. These struggling readers become discouraged and fall further behind in school. We offer and will expand to include the following:
S.W.A.C.A. is a proven organization that produces quantifiable learning gains among struggling readers whose reading achievement is below the proficient level. It is working in thousands of middle school classrooms across the country.
S.W.A.C.A. standards and objectives are written to equip students with technology knowledge and skills necessary to successfully live, learn, and work in the 21st century. The objectives are intended not only to teach marketable technology skills but also to apply technology across the curriculum. Consequently, this core should not be taught in isolation of other core content but integrated throughout.
S.W.A.C.A. reinforces the study of science for students to learn about asteroids, celestial object, comets, galaxy, planets, satellites, star, distance, force, gravity, gravitational force, mass, scale, solar system, constellation, Milky Way galaxy, speed of light, telescope, universe, sun, light years.
S.W.A.C.A. has a long history of supporting quality educational resources and literacy programs. We focus on preparing children to be successful; enabling teachers, parents and caregivers to help children learn; and educating adults so they are prepared to achieve their goals and contribute to their communities.
S.W.A.C.A. understand that education and literacy does not begin or end in the classroom. S.W.A.C.A. continues to invest in youth and youth activities to reach every type of learner across the lifespan.
